Busty and the Bass launched themselves into notoriety with their original album Uncommon Good back in 2017, and after 3 years have returned to share their sophomore album Eddie. More than anything, this album shows the growth of the Montreal-native group as they come together under the guidance of producer Neal Pogue, known for his work with artists including Earth, Wind & Fire, as well as TLC and Tyler the Creator. Strong basslines and a bright horns section carry though the entirety of the album, as it ranges from Clouds, reminiscent of mid 2000s R&B to psychedelic synthrock on tracks ET & Little Late.
As opposed to their first album, for Eddie members of the band each penned songs individually before presenting them to the larger collective, resulting in a diverse collection of music in the intersection of soul, funk and jazz. Several artists feature on tracks throughout the album, including R&B singer Macy Grey for Out of Love, Funkadelic member George Clinton for Baggy Eyed Dopeman, and Amber Navran of Moonchild on Clouds as well as others.
